Pinterest is an amazing way for creative entrepreneurs to market their business on autopilot and book more clients. And the best thing yet? It requires no TikTok dancing (unless you really enjoy that & have already implemented it into your cardio routine).

If you’re reading this blog post, then I have to assume that you might be at least a tiiiiny bit curious about Pinterest and what it can do for your business. Well, I will tell you all about that & I will also share with you my 8-step quick-start guide that will help you get started on Pinterest today. So keep on reading!

What makes Pinterest different?

I know what you’re probably thinking right about now. “Oh, yet another platform I have to be active on. As if I don’t have too much on my plate already.” Believe me, I get it! Even though I work as a marketer, I’m definitely not one of those people who shout things like “CREATE MORE CONTENT, SHOW UP EVERY DAY, BE CONSISTENT, DO VIDEO, DO REELS, POST MORE, MORE, MORE!” Ain’t nobody got time for that (this really dates me, right?). After all, we are business owners, not content creators. We have a ton of other things to do (such as client work, the thing that literally pays our bills) instead of hanging out on Instagram, TikTok, Clubhouse or Facebook Groups for hours every day.

So again, what makes Pinterest different? Well, there are actually three things.

  1. Pinterest is a search engine, not a social media platform.

  2. You don’t have to worry about coming up with new content ideas for Pinterest - you can just recycle what you already have!

  3. And lastly, you can automate the whole damn thing.

What do you mean, a search engine?

Yes, you read that right. Pinterest is a search engine, not a social media platform. This means that it’s actually more similar to Google, than it is to Instagram, for example. Now let me tell you why this is a good thing for you. Since Pinterest is a search engine, your Pinterest content (aka your pins) has a much much longer lifespan than your average Instagram post. If you publish a new Instagram post today, 2 days from now it will practically stop performing (unless it goes viral of course, but we all know what are the chances of that happening). This is the opposite to how pins work on Pinterest. Instead of just dying down after a day or two, your pins will keep working for you for weeks, months, maybe even years to come! In a way, you’re building a catalog of content that lives on Pinterest and will keep bringing you potential clients over a long long period of time. Pretty neat, right?

Now, there’s also one other benefit to Pinterest being a search engine - it makes your content searchable aka it makes it easier for you to get in front of your potential clients when they’re actually searching for someone like you! Let’s say that you’re a copywriter specializing in writing copy for sales pages. You repurpose your blog content for Pinterest, optimize them for SEO and before you even know if, your pins will show up to people who are searching for copywriting tips for sales pages - exactly the people you want to reach.

OK, this sounds great. But what did you mean that I can just recycle content I already have?

I briefly mentioned this already but when it comes to creating Pinterest content, this is exactly what you’re doing - you’re recycling your existing content and repurposing it for another platform. If you have a blog you can repurpose your blog posts. If you have a podcast you can repurpose your podcast episodes. If you’re a designer you can repurpose your portfolio work. If you’re a wedding photographer you can repurpose your photos. You can even take your Instagram posts, Reels and TikToks and work with that.

The great thing about that is that you won’t have to worry about coming up with content ideas for Pinterest. You will simply be taking the content that’s been sitting in your archive and has been as productive as a sleeping panda, pour some Pinterest superfuel over it and let it blow up.

I’m convinced. Now tell me about the automation thing

This is probably the biggest reason why it would be so easy for you to add Pinterest to your marketing strategy in 2022 - because you can automate everything! If you use my strategies you can create & schedule one month worth of content in cca. 4 hours. To translate, this means that you only need one afternoon and you’re done for the month. 12 afternoons and you filled up your calendar for the year!

No more hanging out on the app for hours every week. No more feeling like you have to show up even when you’re so busy you feel like your head is about to explode. You can just prepare everything in advance and let the system work for you.
