Your Brand is More Than Just Your Logo

When you think about starting or refreshing your brand, where do you start? There’s the logo, of course, but other assets such as your colour palette, font choices, and aesthetic style are important too. Then there’s your social media presence, brand voice, research on your market competitors, and so much more!

All of this can be overwhelming, and maybe you’re thinking you want to keep costs at a minimum, “so let’s just stick with a simple logo,” — but your brand is incomplete if all you have is a logo. If you believe in the success of your business, you should be investing in the right visual identity for your brand. When you start out with the right assets and strategy, you can keep your brand consistent and recognizable.

Speaking as a professional designer, here’s why your brand should include so much more than just a logo, and how I can help you create a complete brand that works for your business:

Recognizable Identity

Think of a brand you like. Without looking at a photo, what comes to mind? Can you imagine the colours of their logo, if their logo is written in chunky letters or an elegant cursive script, and if the logo can tell you what their company does without saying it in words? Your brand becomes recognizable through the colour palette, photography or art style, brand voice, font pairings, and more.

Professionaility

A brand with a well-executed strategy will show your clients that you are a trusted expert in your field; when you invest in your brand identity, you show them that you have a lasting legacy.

Cohesive Brand Assets

Achieving consistency throughout your brand which includes your website, letterhead, business cards, social media and more is important because you want to make sure you appear organized and professional to the public audience as well as any B2B clients.

Reach Your Target Audience

Do you sell organic products, design modern streetwear, or do you offer legal services? Something as simple as a colour palette can show your target audience that your values align with theirs. A professional designer knows how to appeal to your audience, whether you’re looking for a minimalistic feel, an eclectic vibe, or anything else in between!

Competitive Market Research

Creating your brand identity not only includes showing what your brand stands for, but as a designer I also make sure that your brand doesn’t clash with any competitors in your field. You wouldn’t want to infringe on a similar bussiness’ brand; you want to stand out as your own unique company.
